There is always a vibrant debate about what MBA is the “Best” one and people take positions of certainty about their preference for the “Best”. The rankings are often cited as proof, alumni networks are compared endlessly, and the incoming class statistics are held out as more reasons one is better than another.
Today I say there is only one “Best” MBA program in the world – regardless of all that noise.
The best program in the world is… wait for it… wait for it…
The best MBA program in the world is the one that is best for you and only you. It is not the one with the highest salary, best financial aid, certain rankings in the Wall Street Journal or Financial times, it is the one MBA program that fits you best. If you define what is important to you and complete some not-so-complicated due diligence, you can determine the world’s best MBA program – for you. After that, it is a matter of preparing yourself to pursue that goal and a couple backup options.
You see, the simple matter is that there can be no single “best” program because if there were we would all need to use the same measurements and place the same weights on the results. Really? Yes, really. Do you really think it is logical that what is best for you is exactly what the rankings creators, “Best” program champions, and other noisemakers have defined as the world’s “Best”. Of course it isn’t logical.
You get to say what the world’s best program is, if you will look inside and see what metrics matter to you and then find options that fit.
Good luck finding your own best MBA program.
